Service Description

Insomnia affects about 1 in 3 adults in the United States each year. People with insomnia often feel tired during the day, which can impact overall health and daily functioning. Common complaints include: • Difficulty falling asleep • Trouble staying asleep • Difficulty returning to sleep after waking in the middle of the night • Restlessness or anxiety around bedtime Insomnia can be primary (occurring on its own) or secondary (caused by other health conditions). Treating any underlying conditions can help resolve secondary insomnia. During your evaluation, your sleep specialist will: • Review your detailed sleep history and personal habits • Discuss behaviors that may affect sleep, such as diet, stress, or exercise • Recommend keeping a sleep diary to track sleep patterns Based on the duration and severity of your symptoms, your physician may suggest: • Lifestyle modifications to improve sleep hygiene • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), an evidence-based therapy to retrain sleep patterns For severe insomnia, Neurovalens, an FDA-approved, physician-prescribed device, may be considered. It delivers gentle electrical pulses to the vestibular nerve for about 30 minutes before bedtime, targeting brain regions that regulate sleep. At Forsyth Sleep MD, our board-certified sleep physicians perform thorough evaluations and develop personalized treatment plans to help patients achieve better sleep and overall health.
